Motivation is a choice
You may say you are not motivated to work, but that’s not entirely true because you are using that time to do something that appeals to you at that moment. So you don’t lack motivation, what you lack is the choice to be motivated to do what you are supposed to be doing.
There are two types of motivation; intrinsic and extrinsic. If the motivation comes from within you, that is intrinsic and it’s usually because there is something to enjoy from the activity. If it comes from outside, it’s usually because you have something to lose or gain from the activity you are motivated to do.
This simply means you have control over motivation, so use this power to your advantage.
Knowledge is not power, it only has the potential to be powerful
No matter how much knowledge you gather, it will not make any difference if you don’t put it to good use. So you have the choice to store, ignore, or apply new knowledge. The lessons of this book will give you knowledge, and when you apply them, your life will change.
Everyone has the potential for greatness
You have a special talent that you were born with, and if you make the choice to harness it, there is nothing you won’t be able to achieve. Take control of your life by stepping out of your comfort zone, this is what the most successful people in the world are doing every day and they reap huge rewards.
Despite your special talent, you will not be successful if you keep telling yourself that you are not good enough. Tell yourself the truth that you are good enough, then go ahead and work towards your greatness.
Get rid of limiting beliefs
Most people are being held back by what they believe and it is hard for them to see the bigger picture. Sometimes it is because this belief has been in them since childhood, and the things we take from our early years have a huge impact in our lives.
If you are one of those people who have developed a limiting mindset to keep you where you are, you need to break free from it immediately. There is no reason why you should not aim higher, so aim higher.
Speak positive words to yourself
Even if you have to shout it out loud every morning, do it. Talk to yourself; tell yourself that you are capable of being the best at what you do. If speaking pessimism can cause poor growth, imagine just how much you can gain from soaking optimism into your life.
Resist the urge to lie to yourself, always see your immeasurable abilities and put them to good use.
Your heritage doesn’t matter
No matter where you are from, you can make it big in life. If your traditions have some restrictions that have made you shrink your talents, know that you are not alone. There are people like you out there who come from similar backgrounds and they became successful because they got rid of those restrictions. You can do the same and the results will amaze you.
The reticular activating system (RAS)
This activating system allows your brain to filter out meaningless stimuli while keeping the important ones. Since the human brain is always getting different ideas all the time, the RAS is very important to keep us on track.
To make yourself limitless, you can guide the RAS by asking yourself questions that indicate to your brain what is important.
Learning is not all about consuming information
From our basic school days to maturity, educational institutions have tested our learning by grading how much knowledge we have consumed, but not how we have applied it. Stop consuming so much and start applying them.
“Being limitless is a choice, and that choice is entirely yours, regardless of your circumstances.”
Jim Kwik
